Intermediate Snowshoe – Brainard Lake Rec Area - Winter Gateway
A 6 mile snowshoe along the Waldrop Trail in the Brainard Lake Recreation Area, out to the CMC Hut, returning via Brainard Lake and the Snowshoe Trail #814.3

American Mountaineering Center, Golden CO at 6:45AM with planned departure at 7AM. If meeting at the Brainard Lake Winter Trailhead, plan on being there by 8:15AM.
Multiple route options exist in the area but we will look to avoid the Brainard Lake road for the most part as well as the CMC Ski Trail #814.2 given we will be on snowshoes. Prior snowshoeing experience recommended.
Required Equipment
Bring snowshoes, traction devices, gaiters and hiking poles are recommended. Be prepared to attach snowshoes to your daypack. Dress in layers and be prepared for winter conditions to include cold, wind, snow, clouds and/or sun. A thermos of warm drink or food can really make the day.
