All participants must be vaccinated and boosted against Covid-19. See CMC current covid policies. Meet at Wadsworth & Hampden Park/Ride at 6:30 AM, to depart at 6:45am (39.65086370788077, -105.08251845420128). There we will organize the car trade and key exchange with the Trip #1 group. If you are willing to drive, bring two car keys for your car. There we will trade cars and provide the extra keys and our cars to the other, Group #1 hikers. We will carpool in their cars to Roxborough State Park and lock their keys under the front mats of their cars. They will carpool in our cars to the Indian Creek TH parking lot, doing the same. We will hold on to our own car keys to allow entry when we reach our cars.
What this means is that our cars will be waiting for us at Indian Creek when we finish the hike and we will be free to return to Wadsworth/Hampden park/ride, sort equipment and people, and then head home without having to coordinate with the other group. If enough of us want to do it and the carpools work out, we'll stop at Bud's Bar on the way out of Sedalia.
Our group will be hiking primarily uphill. Tom and Linda Jagger will lead the other group, #1, AT A SLOWER PACE THAN OUR GROUP AND MOSTLY DOWNHILL, so if you are worried about speed OR about hiking up (vs. hiking down), PLEASE join the other group. Assuming the timing works, when we meet the other group we will stop and have a lunch break. There is a $7.00 per car daily user fee at Indian Creek. If you have a Senior Lifetime National Parks Pass, please bring it with you to leave on the car dashboard. With a Senior Pass, the daily user fee is reduced to $3.50 per car for cars left at Indian Creek TH. A State Park Pass or $10 payment is needed for cars driven to and left at Roxborough SP.
We will do a one-way hike in the beautiful and seldom visited Indian Creek portion of the Pike National Forest located approximately 10 miles west of Sedalia off of Highway 67. Our hike is from the Roxborough Visitors Center onto Ringtail Trail, then on to the Indian Creek TH. The other group will start at Indian Creek TH and follow the same trails in reverse order.
