We will make a short comfort stop at Loaf n Jug at 285 and CR 43, just before Bailey.
Mileage to the Three Mile Creek trailhead from the Fort is 80 miles RT, or about $32 per vehicle to be divided between driver and passengers.
If you plan to meet us at the trailhead, please let me know, and please arrive by 9:00. Travel south on 285 to Grant and turn right on County Road 62 (sometimes called Guanella Pass Road) a little over 2 miles to the parking lot for Whiteside Picnic Area and Three Mile trailhead. There is a vault toilet at the trailhead. (Note: All Trails directions will take you past this lot to the actual trailhead, but the is now No Parking allowed at that location)

We will start out slowly to allow all to adjust to the altitude. There are no overlooks or striking views on this hike. Rather, it is a shady, cool hike along a creek, winding through conifers and aspen groves. There is a campfire circle about 2.5 miles in, where we will stop for a snack/lunch. While this is an easy hike, there are 8 stream crossings (4 out, 4 back) each of which has log bridges across the water. There is also a short section where the path has been washed out, requiring either a short walk through the water, or a short scramble over boulders.

NOTE: We will be hiking through designated Blue Sky Wilderness area. All dogs must be on a six foot leash and under your control at all times. No extension leashes allowed. Please read https://cmcdenver.org/groupresources/denver-group-dog-hikes-policy

If your plans change, please cancel on the registration page, and let me know via text or phone at 703-774-6266. No calls after 10pm or before 7am please.
