Meet at the Morrison Park n Ride, just off of C-470, at 8:00 am. Here is a Google Map link to the PnR. We will carpool from there and leave promptly at 8:10 AM.
A Colorado State Parks pass is required for each vehicle to enter Staunton State Park.
This is probably my favorite hike in Staunton State Park. Great views of Lions Head (and the carving in progress). We’ll start on the west side at the Lazy V Ranch parking lot (restrooms here) then hike up Scout Line to Marmot Passage, descend to Elk Falls Pond, head up Chimney Rock, and continue up to Lion’s Back to the Elk Falls Overlook. We’ll take a break here and enjoy the view. Then we’ll return along the seldom travelled West Meadow trail back to Elk Falls Pond then Bugling Elk and Staunton Ranch trails to the parking lot. Here is COTREX link to the route.
Pace will average 2.0mph. I will advise on trail conditions nearer the time but be prepared to bring spikes and poles.
