Hiking – Sandstone Ranch Open Space

RMOTHG This is a beautiful hike in Sandstone Ranch, which is the most recent addition to Douglas County Open Space Parks. We will hike on Sandstone Meadow Trail Loop through rolling meadows, taking the Sunset Ridge shortcut, the Ranch Overlook Trail with interesting rock formations, then finishing the loop on the Sandstone Meadow Loop Trail. There is a picnic shelter at the trailhead where we can lunch.

Meet:  Cabela’ s Parking Lot: 10670 Cabela Drive, Lone Tree, CO 80124. Park in the section before you reach the front of the store. Arrive by 8:50 am for departure at 9:00 am.

Carpool info:  rt mileage is 52 miles @ 30 cents per mile is $15.60 per car to be divided by all occupants of the car.  Be prepared to wear a mask in the car if carpooling.

Address:  Sandstone Ranch Trailhead is at 9605 South Perry Park Road, Larkspur, CO 80118.

Directions:  From Cabela’s, travel south on I 25 to Larkspur exit 172. (Google maps and Sandstone Ranch directions say get off at exit 173. Exit 173 is closed for maintenance.)

At exit 172 turn right to get back toward exit 173. From South Perry Park Road, go 3 miles. Turn left onto Highway 105. The Sandstone Ranch Traihead is .6 miles from the intersection and is on the right (west) side of the highway. Follow the gravel drive to parking lot approx. 1/3 mile.
