Fellow Mountain Club hikers, it is time for a challenge!

Nature Unplugged issues an annual fundraising challenge: the Hike-A-Thon. (fundraising optional)

The Hike-A-Thon challenges people to hike, walk, or run through the month of October, logging as many miles as possible. Those who log a minimum of 50 miles will earn a $50 in-store credit to your local Fjallraven store (100 miles earns you a $100 credit).

*Miles must be logged through Strava, and posted to your profile.

We created a CMC team, and will be posting hikes to log some miles together.

Let’s represent the Colorado Mountain Club and show off our hiking abilities together!!

**Due to low turnout, I am changing this hike to a family hike.  3 kids ages 9-14 will be joining me. Other families and kids are encouraged to sign up.  We will adjust the length and pace to accommodate the youngins!**

7:30 am: Meet at the Safeway in Manitou Springs to review Strava App and get technology situated. Please be sure to have a full battery as logging activity is battery intensive. From there we will consolidate cars as its $10 per vehicle to enter. Possible lunch afterwards.

From forest service website:  https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/psicc/recarea/?recid=26219#:~:text=At%20a%20Glance,day%20use%20fee%20is%20required.

From Colorado Springs, head west towards Woodland Park on US Highway 24. At the stoplight in the town of Woodland Park, (by the McDonald's restaurant), turn right onto Baldwin Street. Baldwin Street will eventually become Rampart Range Road, (still within the city limits), and then it will eventually turn into Teller County Road 22. When you reach a "Y" in the road at the north end of the Woodland Park area, veer right onto Loy Creek Road. When you come to a three way stop intersection at the end of the pavement, turn right onto Forest Service Road #300. Follow the signs to Rampart Reservoir (there is fee required to enter the Rampart Resevoir Recreation Area).
