This RMOTHG Panorama Point hike from Corwina Park Trailhead offers spectacular views of Mount Blue Sky (aka Mt. Evans) and the surrounding peaks. At 4.3 -miles round trip, this spike-hike / snowshoe cuts off the 3 mrt flat section of trail from Lair o' The Bear Park. It provides a steady, moderately challenging ascent up the Bear Creek Trail, looping counter-clockwise around Panorama Point via Panorama Point Trail, and returning via the Bear Creek Trail. Estimated out-and-back time from Corwina Park Trailhead is 2.5 hours (including breaks) – longer if snowshoes are used. We will meet at the Lair o' The Bear Parking Lot at 9:30 am (letting the temps warm up a bit) and then carpool to the Corwina Park Parking Lot – 1.5 miles from LOB up 74 towards Evergreen. Parking at Corwina is limited and we want to leave space for other people and groups. Please be packed up and ready to get movin' after some introductions (10 min). There are restrooms at both Lair of the Bear and Corwina Parking Lots.

Address of Lair of The Bear Park (22550 State Highway 74, Idledale, CO 80453):
On your left approximately 10 minutes up 74 from the town of Morrison.

  • Due to the inevitable icy sections on this trail... Microspikes are mandatory.

  • Ski Poles are recommended for balance and helping to prevent falls – especially when icy and descending. They can also be helpful for any encounters with bears, mountain lions and BigFoot.

  • As we will be doing a steady ascent up a moderately challenging route it is recommended that you assess your physical & aerobic fitness to be able to fully enjoy this hike.

  • Leader will email everyone a day before the hike with trail & weather conditions – which will determine whether Snowshoes are needed.

  • Ensure that your $15 annual RMOTHG dues are up-to-date and your Waiver is current & signed. (This trip is solely for RMOTHG members).

  • Bring a trash bag to put snowy/muddy boots & spikes into to help keep drivers' cars clean. We will carpool the 1.5 miles from Lair o' The Bear Parking Lot to the Corwina Parking Lot.
