9am meet at trailhead, Go south on Highway 550 from Montrose/Ridgway, through Ouray and continue south. GPS point is not accurate on the above map! About 2 miles south of Ouray will be an arch or tunnel over the highway. The trailhead parking is on the left immediately after the arch, so be ready!
This trail has been designated as a National Recreation Trail. There is a section of a very high ledge walk with a drop-off. This is not dangerous but would be very uncomfortable if you do not like drop-offs. We will pass by the historic Grizzly Bear mine site and turn around at the Yellow Jacket mine site. Please note that this is not the Bear Creek near Telluride.
