Hiking – Orbital Trail - Segment 17
For Rocky Mountain Over the Hill Gang members ONLY. We will hike Segment 17 of the Denver Orbital Trail (DOT) - following the newer sections of the High Line Canal including a footbridge over 1-70 and then on to the First Creek Trail. We will be hiking from south to north. Robbie Monsma will be leading this hike from north to south on the same day. We will meet in the middle and may stop for a snack/lunch break together. We have extended the segment a bit to a better parking lot.

We will meet at 9:00am at the First Creek at DEN Open Space parking lot, 5600-5898 Buckley Road, Denver, CO 80239. https://maps.app.goo.gl/g7i85oTf618kxG5N7 We will then carpool to our starting spot, at the Triple Creek Trailhead parking lot, 18000 E Colfax Ave., Aurora, CO 80011
The DOT is a walking route that makes a full circle around Denver. This segment is a mix of paved path and trail.
There are public toilets at the start and we will be walking by some stores along the way which might have restroom options if you buy something.
This route is exploratory for the trip leaders.
Required Equipment
Dress appropriately for the weather, including sunscreen and a hat, plus wind clothes. Bring a snack/lunch and plenty of water. It’s always a good idea to carry microspikes this time of year.
