Hiking – Orbital Trail - Segment 16
For Rocky Mountain Over the Hill Gang members ONLY. We will hike segment 16 of the Denver Orbital Trail (DOT) – along the Highline Canal, through the Morrison Nature Center and onto the Sand Creek Trail. We will be hiking from south to northeast. Robbie Monsma will be leading this hike from north to southwest on the same day and she is adding a bit of mileage to make it a longer hike. I’m going to hike the designated DOT segment only.

There are stores and shops with restrooms at the beginning. There are public toilets at the end.
This route is exploratory for the trip leaders.
We will meet at 9:00am at the Triple Creek Trailhead parking lot, 18000 E Colfax Ave., Aurora, CO 80011 https://maps.app.goo.gl/jA1UJ4HatRAf4W847 We will then carpool to our starting spot, at the Save-A-Lot parking lot at the corner of Chambers Road & E 6th Ave. (15220 E 6th Avenue, Aurora, CO 80014).
Required Equipment
Dress appropriately for the weather, including sunscreen and a hat, plus wind clothes. Bring a snack/lunch and plenty of water. It’s always a good idea to carry microspikes this time of year.
