We will meet at 9:00am at the Save-A-Lot parking lot on the east side of the parking lot, closest to Chambers Road, 15220 E 6th Avenue, Aurora, CO 80011 https://maps.app.goo.gl/nE18nQYXp8iTNu5B6 We will then carpool to our starting spot, Cherry Creek State Park Visitor Center, 4201 S. Parker Rd., Aurora, CO 80014.
The DOT is a walking route that makes a full circle around Denver. Segments 14 and 15 are relatively short so we’re combining them together. It will be paved sidewalk for all of the hike. We will walk on the Cherry Creek Spillway Trail and then through Horseshoe Park on to the Tollgate Creek Regional Trail. We then connect to the Highline Canal Trail. Here are the links to maps of Segment 14 https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/dot-segment-14-cherry-creek-spillway-horseshoe-park-and-toll-gate-creek-regional-trail?u=i&sh=bhqvqk and 15 https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/dot-segment-15-toll-gate-creek-regional-trail-to-high-line-canal?u=i&sh=bhqvqk There is a little additional length because we have to park at the Visitors Center in the State Park.
There are toilets at the beginning and several along the way. There are stores and shops with restrooms at the end.
Since the distance between trailheads for the shuttle is short and many of us will be driving one direction or the other, there will be no carpool cost sharing for the shuttle.
This route is exploratory for the trip leaders.
