Meeting Time & Place. (Because our DOT routes are located further east now and it’s a longer drive to get to the TH, some have asked about carpooling from closer to home. If you would prefer that, see below.)
At 9:00 am we will FIRST MEET AND DROP CARS Bar CCC Park, 10951 S. Twenty Mile Rd, Parker, CO 80134. This will be the finish point for our hike. We will then carpool to our hike start at a parking lot for Arapahoe Rd TH for the Cherry Creek Trail at 6788-6808 S Dawson Cir, Centennial, CO 80112.
If you wish to carpool from the Hampden Park N Ride, 3599 S Wadsworth Blvd, Denver, CO 80235 (or another convenient place), we can arrange that if at least two people are interested. If you are interested in carpooling with others from the PnR, please so indicate in your registration notes. You will be responsible for final arrangements and carpool sharing costs.
Since the distance between trailheads for the shuttle is short and half of us will be driving one direction or the other, there will be no carpool cost sharing for the shuttle.
Note, if we have insufficient drivers for this hike, we’ll simply hike together with Suzanne’s group, combining forces for the shuttle set-up.
We will follow the Cherry Creek Trail south back to Bar CCC Park. Suzanne Dysard is leading the same hike from south to north so we will meet up with her group for a lunch break in the middle. This route is exploratory for the trip leaders. We will write a day or before trip day to review the weather, help with any carpooling arrangements, and any logistical adjustments.
Plan to bring microspikes and wear tall gaiters.
Required Equipment
Wear layers appropriate to the weather. Bring snacks/lunch and water. Have your ten essentials. Bring hiking poles if you like to use them. It's never a bad idea to have microspikes with you this time of year.
