This is a socially-oriented easy traction hike or snowshoe (depending on conditions) on the Old Dillon Reservoir trail. Old Dillon Reservoir (USFS #87) is a short, easy trail with great 360 degree views. By consensus, we will either hike to old reservoir and back, or add circling around it before we return. The TH is easily accessed off of the Dillon Dam Road between Frisco and Dillon.
For more information, see USFS info for Old Dillon Reservoir at https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/whiteriver/recarea/?recid=40885
Leader will advise current conditions. Plan on traction devices such as microspikes or Yaktrax. Snowshoes are unlikely to be required on this trail, but if we have a big recent snowfall, we may need snowshoes.
We will do this trip whether we have clear or cloudy skies, snowfall or wind, unless the Dillon Dam Road is closed (which would prevent access, but we could consider an alternate location in this case). Come prepared for the conditions of the evening. If you're inclined to continue parking lot social time, bring a thermos of hot beverage and snacks for after our excursion.
5:30 PM Ready to hike. We will meet at the TH parking off of the Dillon Dam Road.
