Meet at the Conifer Staples for a 6:00am departure.

For this trip we will scour the Puma Hills for as many high points as our mood dictates.  We will hunt them down one by one.

The trip will begin and end with a jeep road hike, but for the most part we will be off-trail bushwacking up steep trails, over/under down trees, and over/around rock outcroppings.

This is a smartphone navigation hike.  Please import the GPX file into your preferred smartphone navigation app.  The GPX file will be sent to all trip participants as part of the pre-departure logistics email.  In an effort to promote individual responsibility in the backcountry, you will be asked to verify the import of the GPX file at the car pool meet-up point.

With off-trail hikes it is difficult to navigate and routefind by sight, while using a map and compass is typically a time consuming and error-prone activity.  Navigating by smartphone is usually the most effective way to reach our destination, then safely return to the TH.  It is an essential tool should someone get separated from the group.  Not perfect but the best we have so far.

There will be a 90 minute drive each way, plus the six hours for the hike, so this will be a 9 - 10 hour day.  Please don't make personal plans for later that afternoon as challenges may come up delaying our return.
