In order to reduce the risk of muddy trails, Pueblo participants will meet at the Southeast corner of Albertson's Parking lot at 1601 Hwy 50, Pueblo, 81008 for a 7:30 am departure. Colorado Spring's participants will meet at the Hub parking lot at the intersection of High Drive and Upper Gold Camp Roads in North Cheyenne Canyon for an 8:30-8:45 am departure. The hike starts at the trailhead.

St. Mary's Falls is one of the iconic hikes in North Cheyenne Canyon.  Because the hike is largely forested there still should be considerable snow pack despite the warm temperatures this week. If we are lucky, there may be an area of the falls where the flow of water is visible due to some snow melt.

Expect in the morning a mix of snow packed trails with ice in the shade and frozen mud trails in areas with sun. In the afternoon the trails will likely be a mix of slushy snow pack with ice in the shade and dry or muddy trails in the sun. Throughout much of the hike, the trails have some rock base which should assist in the goal to limit damage to the trails when the trails are muddy.

If I have not had the pleasure of hiking with you before, I will want to connect with you before Thursday Feb. 27th to determine if there are any medical conditions you have that I should be aware of and get a feel for your level of fitness by learning about the mileage and gain of hikes you have completed in the last two months.
