Update post-trip: On Nov. 2, the group met & hiked at Capulin Volcano National Monument. A few participants departed from Capulin rather than spending the night at Sugarite Canyon SP in NM due to incoming weather predictions and road conditions enroute to returning home. The trip is considered closed at Capulin Volcano NM.

Depart by dawn on Nov. 1 for Fishers Peak SP to hike the Fishers Peak summit trail (Difficult, 16 mi, +3400'). Following the day hike, return to campsites at Trinidad Lake SP for 2nd night.

On Nov. 3, we drive to Capulin Volcano National Monument in New Mexico for a day-trip, returning to Sugarite Canyon SP for 2nd night camping. 

Interested parties should contact the Leader in advance of registration to determine campsites and participation. State Park entrance, Camping fees, food and all travel expenses are on your own. General itinerary: 

Thur 10/31 arrive for car-camping at Trinidad Lake State park (TLSP) sites (2 nights)
Fri 11/1 Early start (10.5 hrs of daylight) to hike Fishers Peak (16 mi/+3400'), return to car camp 
Sat 11/2 Recover and drive to Sugarite Canyon State Park (New Mexico) car camp (2 nights). 
Sun 11/3 Drive to Capulin Volcano National Monument for day-hike. Return to Sugarite Canyon SP for 2nd night. 
Mon 11/4 Departure
The Parks all offer alternate hikes and activities that some participants may choose to do on their own if different than the main group.
