I will be at the Mount Falcon Trailhead at 4:30 on Thursday. I will probably do the Turkey Trot trail up and Castle back. I will wait around for anyone showing up at 6 PM. I will be carrying 45 lbs. on my hike.
Bring water and register on the CMC website, please. Hope to see a few folks!
This is a great, almost spoon-fed way to train. If you take the Turkey Trot loop (the return trip on would be on Castle), you cover 3.2 miles and 800' vertical
The full Castle trail (of which a leg could be Turkey Trot) covers between 6.3 - 8.7 miles with up to 2000" vertical gain.
For comparison, the popular Cathedral Trail in the White River Forest, near Aspen, is 6 miles (7 to the lake) and you climb 2000'. So, either option is a respectable after-work gambol (well, I gambol, OK?)
