Hiking – Mount Falcon
BPX training hike with starting times at 4:30 and 6 PM at Mount Falcon East Trailhead. Meet and hike with other BPX members in a relaxed, non-competitive activity, designed to get you back in shape for backpacking's high season!
I will be at the Mount Falcon Trailhead at 4:30 on Thursday.I will probably do the Turkey Trot trail up and Castle back.I will wait around for anyone showing up at 6 PM.I will be carrying 45 lbs. on my hike.
Bring water and register on the CMC website, please. Hope to see a few folks!
This is a great, almost spoon-fed way to train. If you take the Turkey Trot loop (the return trip on would be on Castle), you cover 3.2 miles and 800' vertical
For comparison, the popular Cathedral Trail in the White River Forest, near Aspen, is 6 miles (7 to the lake) and you climb 2000'. So, either option is a respectable after-work gambol (well,Igambol, OK?)
