Trip
Hiking – Moab, Utah
This trip consists of five days of off-season hiking in the Moab area. We'll take advantage of this quieter period to hike some areas that might normally be busy with MTBs and 4x4s. At this time restaurants aren't crowded, MTBs and 4x4s are largely absent and overall visitation is low.

Note that the trip dates are for hiking days only and one should allow for travel to and from Moab. We'll sort out car pools as we get closer to the date.
Difficulty: While the distance and elevation gain of these hikes place them in the moderate category, most will involve off-trail travel and limited scrambling sections - participants should be comfortable with this. The hikes will typically be on routes or lightly-marked trails, and some may have exploratory sections. Specific hikes and their order will be determined closer to the trip date based on weather and existing conditions.
Ethical considerations: Most of the hikes will visit rock art sites. To protect these sites details regarding these sites are not provided. In addition, participants should not share these locations (or tracks to them) publicly (this includes the CMC's site, Alltrails, etc.).
Please don't sign up unless you intend to do all the hikes.
Required Equipment
This is a transitional part of the year; the weather may vary from winter to spring conditions. Historically average highs are in the mid-50s with actual highs over the last 10 years ranging from the 30s to 60s. Participants should be prepared for these extremes, bringing adequate layers, traction devices and, of course, the 10 essentials.
