Hiking – Meridian Trail

An excellent early-season hike for endurance training: 1700 ft of elevation gain in 3 miles - at an altitude of 9000 - 10,000 ft. Pace will be steady with minimal stops - though not particularly fast. Hike goes up to the big saddle just east of Rosedale Peak. Moose sightings possible.

Microspikes may be needed depending on trail conditions. Leader will notify everyone of weather & trail conditions the day before the hike.

Option of Post-Hike stop at the Crossroads Bar & Grill in Pine Junction.

Meeting Time:   8:30 am

Meeting Place for Carpool:  Morrison PnR (3485 S. Rooney Rd, Morrison, CO. From the Morrison Rd (CO 8) exit of 470 (5A) go west towards Morrison. Take immediate right on South Rooney Rd. Dirt Parking Lot is directly on your right across from the gas station/convenience store.

For those wanting to drive themselves to TH:   From the intersection 470 & 285 drive West (it's called "285 South") about 30 miles to the traffic light at County Rd 43 before the top of Crow Hill in Bailey.  Gas station w/ restrooms here. Drive North on 43 (aka Deer Creek Rd) for about 7 miles to the Y intersection of 43 / 47.  Bear right here on 47 (aka Clark Rd).  Go 1.5 miles, passing the Meridian Campground turnoff. Take the next left on Prospector Way following signs to Camp Rosalie. Go 0.8 miles past Camp Rosalie to the trailhead. The last mile is rough, with some big potholes and can be muddy. SUV or high clearance vehicle recommended.
