Too much holiday food and celebration? Need some exercise? This may be the hike/snowshoe for you.
This is a casual hike or snowshoe. We will hike or snowshoe approximately 5.5 miles of a balloon loop heading east up the lovely, forested Lovell Gulch drainage up to Rampart Range Road, circling to the north and east heading back down under the power lines for a bit. We'll then hike the numerous PUD's (hills) on the way back until we complete the circle and return to the parking lot.
Please bring your 10 essentials including at least 2 liters of water, ample food, warm and wind layers, gaiters, ice-walkers, and possibly snowshoes if the snow is deep enough.
Please contact the leader, Debbie Sheinman, at 719-635-7720 or at sheindk@yahoo.com, should you have questions or if you wish to carpool.
Driving directions: From Colorado Springs, drive Hwy. 24 west to Woodland Park. Turn right onto Baldwin Avenue near the McDonald's in Woodland Park. Go 2.2 miles north on Baldwin Avenue which later becomes Rampart Range Road to the Woodland Park Maintenance Center. Turn left into the dirt parking lot.
Required Equipment
Again, please bring gaiters, ice-walkers, and possibly snowshoes.
