  • Elevation Gain: 1,600 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 6,800 ft
  • Pace: Casual

We will meet in the Pringles parking lot, 2100 W. Drake Rd (NW corner of W. Drake Rd. & S. Taft Hill Rd.) at 8:00 a.m.  This will seem like 9:00 a.m. (be sure to set your clocks back 1 hours Saturday night).  We will carpool from Pringles to Lory State Park 9 miles northwest (708 Lodgepole Dr., Bellvue).  We will park at the Eltuck picnic area.

This will be a pretty fall 7-mile loop hike with a 1,600' gain that includes a short scramble to the summit of Arthur's Rock in Lory State Park.  From the Eltuck Picnic Area, we will cross the road and hike up Well Gulch to the intersection with the Timber Rail connector. We will turn left and continue south to the intersection with the Overlook Trail and hike along the scenic Overlook Trail with views of Horsetooth Reservoir before meeting the Arthur's Rock trail.  We will turn right (west) and follow this trail to the base of Arthur's Rock.  After a scramble to the summit, we will enjoy a snack and the amazing 360 degree view.  Next, we will scramble down and resume hiking west until we meet the Timber trail. After heading north on the Timber trail, we'll take our lunch break before descending through switchbacks in the Well Gulch drainage.  Continuing down on the Well Gulch trail, we'll end at the TH.
