Hiking – Kruger Rock

The Kruger Rock trail climbs gently through meadows filled with spring and summer flowers and pine trees before the final gentle scramble up to the rocky peak. The reward is great views of Twin Sisters, as well as Mt Meeker and Longs Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park.

MAY 6:  The Kruger Rock trail climbs gently through meadows filled with spring and summer flowers and pine trees before the final gentle scramble up to the rocky peak. The reward is great views of Twin Sisters, as well as Mt Meeker and Longs Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park.  This is a 3.4 mile RT hike, with a 873' gain in the Hermit Park Open Space just east of Estes Park off of Hwy. 36.  We will have a lunch/snack near the summit with a beautiful 360 degree view, before returning to the trailhead and carpooling back to the Estes Park Visitor Center.

** The actual date of this trip will be Saturday, May 6. 

Two meeting locations:  1) Estes Park Visitor Center, 500 Big Thompson (off Hwy. 34), far east end of parking lot at 8:30 a.m., or 2) JJ's, 4015 S. Taft Hill Rd, Ft. Collins (SE edge of parking lot) at 7:30 a.m. to carpool to the visitor center.  The group will carpool to the Hermit Park County Open Space east of Estes Park off of Hwy. 36.  There is a $10/vehicle permit required.  The actual date of this trip will be Saturday, May 6.
