Hiking – Kenosha Pass East

DOGGIE HIKE: All are welcome, with or without a dog. This is a 5.6 mile easy in-and-out hike with a total elevation change of about 650 feet. We will pass through stands of aspens and conifer forests, stopping for lunch at about 3 miles, in a large meadow with beautiful views, before returning to the trailhead.

Meeting Time: 7:50 with an 8:00 departure time.
Carpool Meeting Place: Meet in the lower gravel parking lot at the Fort Restaurant (19192 Highway 8, Morrison) if you plan to carpool and don't mind riding with a dog.
We will make a short comfort stop at Loaf n Jug at 285 and CR 43, just before Bailey.
Mileage to Kenosha Pass from the Fort is 90 miles RT, or about $36 per vehicle to be divided between driver and passengers.
If you plan to meet us at the trailhead, please let me know. Travel south on 285 to the summit at Kenosha Pass. Turn left on Forest Service Road 126 through the gate, and continue a short distance to parking immediately before the campground.
There is a vault toilet at the trailhead that is often out of toilet paper, so bring tissues.

All dogs must be on a leash (no longer than 6 feet) at all times. Please read https://cmcdenver.org/groupresources/denver-group-dog-hikes-policy
The trail, while easy overall, has a couple steep, rocky sections, so poles may be useful. Please bring your 10 essentials, including sunscreen as we will be in and out of the sun. I am hoping we will see some beautiful aspen colors.
If you want to see the trail in AllTrails, we will be doing the beginning portion of the Kenosha Pass to Lost Creek Wilderness Trail (Colorado Trail segment 5).
