Trip
Hiking – Hildebrand Ranch to Deer Creek Canyon
This is another brisk Bobcat thru hike. It will be an easy car shuttle, with the two parking lots only three miles apart. The thru portion of this trail is open only six months a year. If we get a big waitlist, we may do a key exchange instead.

Meet at the Hildebrand Ranch Parking Lot at 6:30 am. If it is going to be hot, we may meet earlier. We'll arrange the shuttle from there.
Once we are all at Hildebrand parking, we'll send some cars three miles up the road to Deer Creek Canyon OS parking, where our group will end the hike and our cars will be waiting for us.
There are restrooms at both trailheads.
The Black Bear Trail connects Hildebrand Ranch OS to Deer Creek Canyon OS. It makes for an interesting one-way trip, over the hogback, through a large-parcel luxury residential area, and then a steep portion up to Deer Creek Canyon OS. The trail is closed every year from February 1 through July 31 for raptor nesting, especially Golden Eagles. Little shade means the trail can become very hot during the summer. On an autumn trip day, we hope to be in the trees by the time the sun gets too high.
