We will meet at 4:40 p.m. at William F. Hayden Park parking lot, 1000 S. Rooney Road, Lakewood, CO 80228, which is just north of the Dinosaur Ridge Gift Shop and Museum.
We will gain 800' elevation over 2.5 miles walking to the radio tower on a wide dirt and gravel service road. Most of the elevation gain is in the first mile. If the weather cooperates, we will see the moonrise around 5:27pm. We'll stop for some moon gazing at the radio tower and then walk back along the same path.
There are bathrooms at the trailhead.
We'll have hot chocolate and hot tea in the parking lot after the hike.
Required Equipment
We will be hiking at night so bring a headlamp (although you may not need it if the moon is bright enough). Bring trekking poles if you use them. You may want to bring extra layers since the temperature will probably be going down during our hike.
