Explore Escalate Canyon, visiting pictographs, granaries, and a natural bridge. A relatively easy hike that crosses the Escalate River four times. THIS TRIP IS FOR ESCALATE MULTI-DAY CAMPING TRIP PARTICIPANTS ONLY.

We will meet in the town of Escalante at 9:00 am then car pool to the trailhead. The route to the trailhead is on paved roads, about 15 miles from Escalante.

This is three separate hikes each beginning at the parking area:

1. Escalate Natural Bridge, 3.5 miles, 100 foot elevation gain. This hike includes 4 river crossings, the water level is typically ankle deep. Could be deeper during Spring.

2. 100 Hands  Pictograph, 1.2 miles, 230 foot elevation gain. This hike visits 3 main petroglyph panels. Other petroglyphs can be found along the trail.

3. Escalate River Grainaries, 2 miles, 120 foot elevation gain. This hike visits 2 different granaries.

The trip may be modified based on river flows.

Bring the 10 essentials, sufficient water and food. We will be able to resupply at the parking lot after completing each section of the hike.

Bring or wear footwear appropriate for wading across the Escalate River.

Be prepared to pack out all waste.

No toilets are available at the trailhead. The closest facilities are located at the Lower Calf Creek Falls Trailhead, 1.5 miles away.
