Hiking – Cherry Creek Reservoir Loop

This is a full moon hike for members of the RMOTHG section only. The exact route and meeting location will be dependent on weather conditions. We will NOT hike the whole loop but, instead, a short segment of five miles or less. More details forthcoming.

  • Mileage: 4.3 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 112 ft
  • Pace: Casual

The hike will tentatively begin after sunset.  Exact route, meeting place, and time are contingent upon weather and will be determined within 24-48 hours of the hike.  Please keep an eye out for an email from the trip leader.  A Colorado State Parks Pass is required for entry into Cherry Creek State Park.  Carpool options will be available for those who do not have a current pass on their vehicle.  Alternatively, CO Parks passes can typically be checked-out from your neighborhood public library.

This will be a short full moon hike, less than five miles of relatively flat walking/hiking.

Bring a foam sit pad, a thermos with hot drink, and some Christmas treats for an optional after-hike social gathering.

Current weather forecast for Cherry Creek State Park (as of 12/21) is daytime highs in the 40s and a nighttime low in the mid-20s.  Bring appropriate layers to stay warm for sub-freezing nighttime temperatures AND bring microspikes in case the trails are still icy from the weekend storm.
