We will meet at Wooly Mammoth BB across from the Exxon Station at 6:00 am to arrange carpools and equipment. We'll proceed to the Echo Lake campground parking lot and hike from there. There are restrooms at the parking area.
This trip is notoriously difficult for some people because the TH is the high point and the three miles going down from or returning to the TH are a constant, steep, switchbacking slope.
For the leaders, the off-trail portion of the trip summiting Captain Mountain is exploratory. The mountain is about a 200' scramble from a big meadow on its south side to the top.
I will write you a day or two before trip day with weather and route updates.
