Join me for this hike near Boulder to get some miles and elevation gain in while we wait for the high country to melt out!
I will email you and ask about your recent hikes. You must have recent, consistent hiking experience to be approved for this trip. 3035 feet of gain and a moderate pace over 8.5 miles make this a more difficult hike, please do not sign up if you haven't hiked since 2023.
Hike description: Climb up the east side of Bear Peak on the super-steep Fern Canyon trail, and then descend on the west side via the more gradual but still steep Bear Peak West Ridge Trail, to Bear Canyon and then back via the Mesa Trail. We will not scramble to the very summit of Bear, but will take a break near the top. This leader does not scramble :)
Bring lunch, snacks, and trekking poles for your poor knees. I'll send weather and trail beta in the days before the trip.
Meet at 7:30 am in Boulder. I'll email you meetup directions. There will be no carpool, you must get yourself to the meetup location.
