Hiking – Apex Park

Apex Open Space Park--Prose and Poetry Hike! Magic Mountain Loop to Grubstake--- 6 miles RT and 1,286 elevation gain. This is the second Prose and Poetry hike! Pace 2.0 mph. A quiet ascent. Bring something to read (no more than a minute or so) to the group that touches our humanity that can be poignant, or uplifting, tender, inspiring, or beautiful, lovely, heartfelt. The route will be up the Magic Mountain Trail ascending Sluicebox Trail and then looping down the Bonanza Trail to Grubstake and returning on the Magic Mountain Trail. At the top we will sit and snack and read to each other, so bring a mat to sit on.

Meet at 6:15  A.M. at Apex Park Trailhead in Golden. There are bathrooms at the trail head.

Enter from County Road 93/Heritage Road just before its merger with US Highway 40/West Colfax Avenue.

This is a prose and poetry hike, so please bring something to read to the group. Can be a poem or passages of prose on any timeless subject that is uplifting or deeply thoughtful such as beauty, love, eternity, any human emotion, any philosophical idea etc. that leans toward appreciation, tender, humorous, lovely, inspiring etc.

This is a moderately paced hike. I encourage everyone to find the pace that feels good to you whether slower or faster that you can sustain for about 30 minute intervals ascending a mild uphill grade. Our target pace is 2.0 miles per hour. There are some steep sections of the trail so bring poles if you use them.
