Hiking – Alderfer/Three Sisters - East TH
At 6 miles / 1000 ft elevation gain the "Twin Sisters Big Loop" is an outstanding and varied route - with smooth wide flat sections interspersed with steep, rocky ascents and descents. Highlights include amazing views and rock formations as well as the remains of the early 20th century settlement of Blairgowrie and "The Realm of Victoria."

Meeting Place: 470 & Morrison Rd (CO 8): 3485 S. Rooney Rd, Morrison, CO
From the Morrison Rd (CO 8) exit of 470 (5A) go west towards Morrison. Take immediate right on South Rooney Rd. Dirt Parking Lot is directly on your right across from the gas station/convenience store.
For those of you who would rather drive yourselves here are directions to the East Parking Lot of Alderfer / Three Sisters Park: 30357 Buffalo Park Rd, Evergreen. From the main light in Evergreen (just east of Evergreen Lake) go south on 73 for about 1/2 mile to another light. Turn right here on Buffalo Park Rd. Drive 1.3 miles to parking and trailhead on your right.
This hike is for RMOTHG Members only - those who have the RMOTHG Badge. Apologies but this group of older folks don't have many hiking options right now.
This hike has long dirt sections interspersed with long sections of hard-packed snow with water ice underneath. These conditions may change. Leader will provide updated weather & trail conditions prior to hike.
Be prepared for a workout - with several steep, rough & rocky sections.
Please let me know if you have any medical issues / conditions / devices / medications that could affect your participation on this hike (e.g. blood thinners, asthma/inhalers, allergies, heart conditions).
Personal Info Card: Please remember to bring your Personal Information Form (Yellow Card) to keep in your 1st Aid Kit or in an easily accessible pocket on your backpack. In the event of an emergency this information will be essential.
Spikes Required. Poles are recommended for balance and helping to prevent falls – especially when descending icy sections.
Carpool Driver Donation: Let's remember that we are reimbursing the drivers for the gas expense, wear & tear on their vehicles, and getting chauffered to our hike:) Please split $8 (26 miles X .32) among the passengers in your carpool. Also, please bring some sort of Trash Bag to either put muddy/snowy boots in or to place on the floor of the driver's vehicle to help keep their vehicle clean.

Microspikes required. Poles Recommended. If it's below 20 deg (especially with wind chill) a balaclava (to cover face & nose), thermos with hot drink, and some chemical hand/foot/toe warmers are good to have.
