Bring the 10 essentials and your lunch or food you need for the day, water or water filter. 

From parking lot a short quarter mile hike up steep closed road to Urad Lake. We will make a plan at the lake as to where we will all fish.

Again, there are no bathroom facilities so please plan accordingly for restroom and sanitation needs.

Meet at 7:30 a.m. at the El Rancho Park & Ride at Evergreen Parkway and I-70 (Address: 29250 US-40, Evergreen, CO  80439).

Car travel distance is 31 miles from meeting location to Urad Lake SWA (one way). 45 mins car travel time. 

 Urad Lake SWA is a 31-acre impoundment at 10,700 near Empire, CO.

 Let’s see some fall colors and try to catch a Tiger Trout (Brown x Brook hybrid). Colorado Parks and Wildlife heavily stocks Urad with catchable Rainbows (Stocked August 30, 2024) as well as Tiger trout and grayling in 2022. Brook trout and cutthroat can be caught in Woods Creek inlet. This is reservoir fishing with some trees on south side to challenge your back cast.

Required Equipment

Recommended Equipment: 5 - 6 wt. fly rods, floating line but if you prefer some streamer action for the Tigers bring your sink tip line.

Waders if you like to wade out and get some space for a back cast or to wade Woods Creek Inlet.

 Flies:

Dries: Parachute Adams, Blue Wing Olives, Black parachute flies.

Streamers: black wooly buggers.

*Bring smaller size flies, the fish are typically 8-12 inches.
