Fly Fishing – Gibson Lake

This is an alpine lake (11,870 ft.) fishing trip. Bring the ten essentials, insect repellant, sun screen, food and water (Lifestraw or filter is recommended. 9 foot 5 weight fly rods with floating lines are recommended. An assortment of dry flies (bring flotant) including the orange asher, royal trudes, humpies, parachute adams, are recommended. Small nymphs (phesant tail, etc.) can be used under a strike indicator. Contact trip leader Eric Esswein for more details if needed. We will meet Saturday July 15th 2023 at 7:00 am at the RTD Highway 285 Mountain View park and ride. We will carpool from there. 4WD vehicles are required to get to the trailhead. I will be driving a silver Toyota 4Runner with a black cargo box atop the vehicle. The trip will end when we get back to the trail head parking lot for Gibson lake.

Laurence has a white Toyota Highlander.

You can wade into the shallow water at the north end of the lake, consider bringing wading shoes and booties.  Contact trip leader Eric Esswein or Laurence Hoess for more details if needed.
