Exploring Nature – Green Mountain

Unfortunately Green Mountain is closed. We will hike Apex Park instead.

This is a LIT (Leader-in-Training) hike for Bob Walker

This is a combination iNaturalist (iNaturalist.org) and geology loop hike at Apex Park. We will hike clockwise along the Pick N Sledge trail to the Grubstake Trail and then return. Our start and end point with be the Apex Trailhead.  

Along the way we will make occasional stops for nature observations using either a cell phone or a camera.  We will also make stops along the way to talk about the geologic history of the Front Range, relative vs. absolute dating and how to interpret what we see.

Everyone is encouraged to download the iNaturalist app on their phone prior to the trip. It is free. Please also create a login so that you can use the app while on the hike.
