Looks like about a 4 hour drive from the Denver area.
My husband and I will be staying at Big Creek Lake Campground the night before on Sunday Aug 18. Right now there are at least four sites together available the night of Aug. 18 of which I will book one: site 24, 26, 29 and 33.
Plan a car camping dinner and breakfast for Sunday/ Monday morning. We will want to get started by 8:30 am on Monday, Aug 19.
Drive home on the day we hike out.
Elevation for the trip. We will be starting at around 9200' and camping two nights at 10,800'. Side hike the middle day will take us up to about 11,600, class 2.
Mosquitoes should be abating by August. Wildflowers will have peaked, but we'll still see plenty.
