Bike – Mineral Belt Trail

We will bicycle the Leadville Mineral Belt Trail (11.6 mi) through the historic mining district with frequent stops at historic markers. The ride passes through aspen groves, conifer forests, meadows, and open vista sage parks as we loop around Leadville, with views of the Sawatch and Mosquito ranges.

Be prepared for flats and simple bike repairs if needed. Bring: bike helmet, water, suitable clothing, relaxed attitude. Bikes can be road bikes, mountain bikes, cross bikes, e-bikes. The pace will be casual with frequent stops to read all the historic markers. Allow 2+ hours for the ride, plus time for a picnic lunch following. (Bring your own lunch.) 

Preference to Gore Range Group members until Sept 3 (2 weeks prior).

CMC 10 Essentials for Bike Trips: 

- Helmet and eye protection (suitable for sun/cloud conditions)
- Bicycle repair tools: Tool kit, Tire levers, Patch kit, Spare inner tube (right size for your tires)
- Inflator: Pump, CO2 cartridge
- Lights: Rear (mandatory); Front (highly recommended)
- Food and Water
- Lunch (if ride includes a lunch stop)
- Appropriate clothing for changes in weather
- Sun protection: Sun glasses, Sun screen, First Aid Kit
- Identification: Road ID, Drivers license, Medical card(s), Phone, Emergency contact
- Navigation: Strava, GaiaGPS, MTB Project, Trailforks
