Bike – East West Regional Trail

We will ride the Douglas County Open Space East/West Regional trail from Schweiger Ranch TH to Grigs Road TH and return. This is a 22.9 mile moderately difficult non-technical bike ride on mostly gravel trail with approximately 2,200 challenging vertical feet. Several good climbs with short grades up to 8%. Very short section is on paved residential street. There are restrooms at both trailheads and covered picnic area at Grigs Rd TH. NO water along trail.

Meet at Schweiger Ranch Trailhead parking area 10822 S Havana St, Lone Tree, CO. That is just south of Ridgegate RTD Station (take Ridgegate Parkway exit off I-25 and go east to S Havana St then south and take first left into parking area).

Meet in time to start riding by 9am.

We will start from Schweiger Ranch Trailhead at 9am and have snack at Tepe Point and snack/lunch at Grigs Road TH and return to starting TH by 1-ish. 

Route in COTREX

This is one in a series of non-technical mountain/gravel bike rides leading up to overnight bikepacking shake down trip prior to bigger summer bikepacking trips.

This trip will focus on finding our hill riding legs after along winter. 

Trip will be rescheduled if there is snow on trail and/or high winds and/or temperature is less then 50F.

Required Equipment

Any mountain bike or gravel bike will work. Not appropriate for road bikes. Bring tire repair kit and air pump and plenty of water and snacks/lunch. At least 40mm wide tries recommended. Tubeless tires with fresh sealant also recommended due to goat's head weeds being along the trail.
