This bike ride is a 13 mile out and back on the Douglas Co. East/West Trail from Pronghorn Park in Highland Hills to the Grigs Road Pavilion. This is a favorite Front Range ride. NO technical skills required. No rocks or tree roots. The trail flows up and down through short rolling hills. The trail is wide on well compacted dirt.
We will ascend 800 ft and descent 250 ft through rolling hills to the turn-around point. The trail is mostly downhill on the way back with a short climb towards the end. This trail is well suited for bikes with wider tires i.e., cross, hybrid, gravel and mountain bikes. Suspension bikes makes the ride a little smoother but are not required. Douglas County does not allow eBikes on this trail.
The Bobcats’ mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, mostly on weekdays, all year long, for our mostly 50+ constituents. We don’t have dues or elections and we invite ALL CMC members to sign up for any Bobcat trip. You can search the CMC Calendar for Bobcat trips any time by selecting “Bobcats Section” in the CMC Trip Calendar “Section pull-down menu. We email a monthly newsletter to our members with all the coming month’s trips, just after those trips are activated. We will meet in the parking lot at Pronghorn Park in Highlands Ranch. From C470 take Santa Fe south (Hwy 85) for about 2 miles and turn left on W Highlands Ranch Parkway. Drive east for about 1.3 miles and then take a right on Wildcat Reserve Parkway. Follow it for another 1.3 miles and turn right on Weathersfield Parkway. Pronghorn Park is about 1500 ft along this road on the right. Pronghorn Park has parking and a restroom. See the following link: https://goo.gl/maps/1E2piD4fymL8gYmbA
