Basic Snowshoe – South Creek Trail - Davenport Campground
In the winter, the road to the Davenport Campground (382) off of Highway 165, near Rye Colorado is closed. At this time of year it's a popular snowshoe, and cross-country ski route for the local population. It's a beautiful area. Bring a smile. We will take it easy and enjoy the views.

Leaders permission required for newcomers only. If you have not participated in an outing with the El Pueblo Group in the past please email me at m_littau@yahoo.com, or text/call 719-569-5555.
Take your choice, snowshoes, or cross-country skis. This is an in-and-out hike. No drop, we stay together. It is approximately 1.5 miles from the start of the road to the campground. If the group wants to go further we can add a stretch of the Squirrel Creek Trail. The hike can be found on CoTrex as Davenport Campground Road. https://trails.colorado.gov/routes/118253
I expect the trail to be broken to Davenport Campground and beyond. We can snack, or have lunch at the campground. We may have to knock a foot, or more, of snow off of a picnic table.
Well behaved, leash trained, dogs are welcome.
Required Equipment
Snowshoes, or cross country Skis, and poles. It will be cold, dress in layers. Bring gloves, sunglasses, a hat, water, snacks, or a light lunch, navigation, and the rest of the ten essentials. A hot drink can be a nice bonus.
