Basic Snowshoe – Guanella Pass
This is the 1.6th in a series of Ascending Hikes, Winter Edition this season: A ~ 4 mile snowshoe hike to Guanella Pass along the Guanella Pass Road in the Arapaho National Forest. Our hike starts at the intersection of Gualnella Pass Road and the Naylor Lake Road. We'll hike along the closed portion of Guanella Pass Road to Guanella Pass. We'll be afforded amazing views of the surrounding high peaks. This trip is an attempt to accommodate the waitlist for the Jan 10, 2025 Guanella Pass Snowshoe Trip.

Carpool Place & Time: Meet at the Wooly Mammoth PnR, Section BB, at 7:00AM, for a 7:15AM departure (Wooly Mammoth Park-N-Ride - Google Maps)
We'll carpool to the Naylor Lake Rd Parking Lot (39°36'34.3"N 105°43'04.1"W - Google Maps)
Embarking on a snowshoe hike to Guanella Pass in Arapaho National Forest promises an enchanting winter escapade amidst the majestic Rockies. Beginning at the winter road closure, we'll follow a well-established snowshoe trail to the Pass. as we ascend, the views of the surrounding high peaks, including Mount Bierstadt and Mount Blue Sky will unfold in all their splendor. The views from the Pass are more than worth the effort in getting there. We'll find a comfortable spot for snack/lunch. We'll return to the the parking lot by the same route. If we find a bit more reserves, we may have a surprise optional hike before we make our way to apres hike beverages. Our pace will accommodate all participants. The Colorado Mountain Club's Ascending Hike Section (AHS) provides an opportunity to make new friends and explore new places in Colorado's backcountry, while increasing your personal hiking speed, strength, and stamina.
