Trip
Backpack – Finch and Pear Lakes
BPX 3-day Leisurely Finch & Pear Lakes trip. Friday, we will backpack 4.3 miles (1800' gain) in to Finch Lake along the finch lake trail. This should leave us plenty of time to enjoy the lake. Saturday, we will dayhike 2 miles (800' gain) each way to Pear Lake, bringing lunches and enjoying the scenery, then return to camp for the night. Sunday, we break camp when ready and backpack out. This trip intentionally leaves time to enjoy the journey through the lovely wild basin corner of Rocky Mountain National Park. We'll relax at 2 pretty lakes, with time for quiet, reading, photography, or whatever you most enjoy doing in the wilderness.

For those interested in carpooling, we'll meet at CMC in Golden. CHANGE TO SCHEDULE: We will meet at 5:45 AM at the CMC parking lot, and carpool starting at 6:00 am. This will allow us to beat the crowds into RMNP. 2 car passes are included with our permit.
We'll need a National Parks pass for each vehicle (leader will provide 1).
Since we should be back down quite early on Sunday, we may stop for lunch or a snack on the way back to CMC, subject to the preferences of the group.
If you are longing for a quiet escape, with a chance to enjoy the natural beauty of Colorado for a couple of nights, this is your trip! If you're wanting to conquer a mountain or push yourself to your limits, this is not your trip! Backpacking always takes effort, but this is not a hardcore trip by any means. This is an 'enjoy the journey' trip, where we will stop to take pictures, chill by 2 lovely lakes, and soak in the beauty. Hopefully we'll have energy reserves to stargaze at night and enjoy the sunrises and sunsets.
