Backpack – Chicago Basin

THIS TRIP IS CURRENTLY FULL.. NOT TAKING ANY MORE PEOPLE

This is a 4 day backpack trip of Chicago basin, a beautiful area in the San Juan mountains.

Saturday, August 17: 8:15am: take the Durango-Silverton train to the backpackers' stop at Needleton, hike 6 miles, set up camp 

Sunday, August 18: go up to Twin Lakes to hike Sunlight, Windom (maybe the Eoluses too); Sunlight-Windom alone is about 6 miles RT from camp with gain 3000'

Monday, August 19: go up to Twin Lakes again to hike the Eoluses; or head over to hike centennial 13er Jupiter; Eoluses along are about 6 miles RT  from camp with gain 3000'

Tuesday, August 20: high tail it to the train stop, catch northbound train (arrives around 10am), go up to Silverton to have celebratory lunch, then head back to Durango
