Backpacking to Eaglesmere Lakes in the Eagles Nest Wilderness is a journey of exploration and discovery, where each step through the pristine alpine meadows and dense forests reveals hidden streams and vibrant wildflowers. As we ascend the rugged trails, the serenity of the untouched wilderness envelops you, leading to the stunning, crystal-clear Eaglesmere Lakes nestled amidst towering peaks. This adventure is marked by the thrill of encountering diverse wildlife and uncovering secluded spots perfect for reflection and connection with nature. This is a Backpacking Section Members Trip. Meet at Wooly Mammoth PnR (Section BB) 7:00AM for a 7:15AM departure (Wooly Mammoth Park-N-Ride - Google Maps)

We'll then carpool to the Eaglesmere Trailhead parking (Eaglesmere Trailhead - Google Maps)

Embarking on this two-day, one-night backpacking adventure to Eaglesmere Lakes in the Eagles Nest Wilderness promises an unforgettable experience of exploration and natural beauty. The journey begins with a moderate hike through lush forests, where the trail winds past babbling brooks and fragrant wildflowers. As we ascend, the landscape transforms, offering stunning vistas of towering peaks and deep valleys. The trail, though challenging at times, rewards our efforts with the serene beauty of the pristine Eaglesmere Lakes. Arriving at the lakeshore we’ll set up camp and spend the afternoon either hiking further to discover new vantage points and capturing the panoramic views of the Eagles Nest Wilderness or perhaps casting a line for trout or simply enjoying the reflections of the surrounding mountains on the crystal-clear water.

The second day dawns with the crisp mountain air invigorating your senses as we enjoy breakfast and trading stories. We’ll pack up camp and begin the descent, retracing our steps through the diverse ecosystems. The journey back is a reflective one, as we take in the sights and sounds of nature, feeling a deep connection to the wilderness. This brief yet profound adventure to Eaglesmere Lakes will leave us with lasting memories and a renewed appreciation for the great outdoors.
