This is a long one day push. AIARE 1 or equivalent avalanche education and previous ski touring experience required for trip participants. This traverse follows exposed ridge lines for extended periods of time, if storms move in during the day solid route finding skills will be necessary to prevent accidental deviations into avalanche terrain.
Required Equipment
Be prepared for an all day winter ski tour with extended sections above tree line exposed to the wind. Basic ski touring gear (AT skis or splitboard, skins, boots, poles, helmet) and avalanche rescue gear (beacon, shovel, probe) are required. Bring clothing layers similar to that which would be worn for a winter 14er which can be adjusted for temperature extremes (base layer, mid layer, shell and down puffy, hat, buff, gloves and mittens).
