Ascending Hikes – South Table Mountain
We'll take a stretched figure eight route around the top of South Table Mountain with our primary objective being two overlooks AND a visit to the new CMC building (at least the parking lot).

Carpool Place & Time: Meet at the NEW CMC Building at 7:30AM for a 7:45AM departure (Colorado Mountain Club - Google Maps)
We'll carpool to the Welch Ditch Trailhead Parking on W 26th Ave (limited parking) (39°45'16.1"N 105°10'24.0"W - Google Maps)
Our hike will begin at the Welch Ditch Trailhead parking area. This is the trailhead closest to the new CMC building, a few blocks away. From the trailhead we'll enjoy a modest ascent of ~450 ft over the first two miles. When we reach the top of the mesa we'll head west along the Old Quarry Trail until we intersect the Lava Loop Trail that will take us to ou first overlook point. With some adroit routefinding we'll make our way to Carl's Point, out second overlook. From there we'll find a route that takes us back to the trailhead. We'll find a sunny spot for lunch/snack along the way. Our pace will be comfortable for all group members. This hike is ~8 miles and ~750 ft elevation gain. (South Table Mtn - Loop 3 - CalTopo)
The Colorado Mountain Club's Ascending Hike Section (AHS) provides an opportunity to make new friends and explore new places in Colorado's backcountry, while increasing your personal hiking speed, strength, and stamina.
