Trip
Ascending Hikes – Pikes Peak via Crags Campground
We will hike to the summit of Pikes Peak and return to the trailhead on the same day. There will be some snow on the route and the temps will likely be below freezing at times, so this will be a 14er hike in winter conditions.

We will meet at the Crags trailhead parking lot at 7 am on Saturday.
This is a relatively gentle, but rather long ascent of a 14er in snowy conditions. We shouldn't need snowshoes or avy gear but should take traction/microspikes and poles. We will move at a moderate/fast pace and hope to complete the round trip in less than 12 hours. We may encounter some cold/windy conditions so you should be prepared with cold-weather hiking gear.
Required Equipment
10 essentials
Traction/microspikes
cold-weather gear to include clothes, goggles, face covering, mittens, warm boots, insulated water bottles
Hiking poles will be helpful.
