Ascending Hikes – Ouzel Falls
We'll take a lollipop route to Ouzel Falls in RMNP, starting at the Wild Basin trailhead. We'll also pass Copeland Falls and Calypso Cascades. With the water running high and fast this year in Ouzel and North Saint Vrain Creeks, these water features should be spectacular. In addition, if the weather cooperates we'll get some great views of Longs and Meeker along the way.

Our hike will begin at the Wild Basin summer Parking Lot in RMNP, following the Wild Basin Trail. We'll pass Copeland Falls and Calypso Cascades on our way to Ouzel Falls. About 200 yards beyond Ouzel Falls is an overlook with a wonderful view of Longs Peak and Mount Meeker. We'll find a sunny spot near Ouzel Falls to stop for lunch/snack. From the overlook we'll continue along the Wild Basin Trail to the junction with the Thunder Lake Trail (aka North Saint Vrain Campsite Trail). We'll follow this trail, along the North Saint Vrain Creek until we meet the Wild Basin Trail and return to the trailhead. Overall this hike is ~6 miles and ~1100 ft elevation gain. Our pace will be comfortable for all group members. (Ouzel Falls - RMNP - Loop - CalTopo)
