Ascending Hikes – Mount Shavano and Tabeguache Peak

This is an adventurous, difficult hike with breathtaking views of the Colorado Rockies. There is minimal shade along the way requiring sunscreen and plenty of liquids. Trekking poles are highly recommended for the steep trail conditions.

You may choose to meet the group on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at the Wooly Mammoth CDOT PNR or on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Mount Shavano trailhead. Planning a 4:00am trailhead departure to minimize risk of afternoon thunderstorm activity. An update email will come the week of the trip to monitor weather and conditions. 

Experience with previous 14ers is welcome, but not required. 10 Essentials should be brought, along with a positive, judgment-free attitude. Please make sure to bring proper sun, wind and cold protection.
