Ascending Hikes – Manitou Incline

Ascending Hike to Manitou Incline and descend via Barr Trail. We shall aim for an incline time of 90 -- 120 minutes. Not for fast hikers.

  • We shall meet at 6:15am in the Safeway Parking lot in Old Colorado City to consolidate into fewer cars -- The Safeway is located here:  https://maps.app.goo.gl/JrxMw6Jd1Yex4zB77
  •  We shall then drive to base of Manitou Incline and park at 444 Ruxton Ave, Manitou Springs, CO 80829 -- cash lot, parking fee to be divided among participants of each car. 
  • In case we do not get parking at the cash parking lot, we shall park at one of the city parkings, that would add about 2 more miles to our route. 
  • Pace would be towards slower side, targeted at participants building speed, strength, and stamina. If you are a fast hiker, this one may not be for you.   • First timers attempting Incline are welcome to join -- as far as they have confidence in their abilities. We shall support each other and target a successful and safe summit for everyone.  
  • Please be ready for a winter hike with warm layers and micro-spikes, trekking poles could be helpful especially coming down via Barr Trail.
