This is a conditioning hike for participants who have been hiking regularly and are comfortable establishing your own sustainable pace for a period of time, such as a 30 minute interval.
Many people use these trips for obtaining a cardio workout in addition to socializing and meeting friends. So, I try to lead trips where participants are similar in pace and where we have time to visit with each other. If you do not know your pace you can download a Gaia or some other hiking app app on your phone for free and test yourself hiking up a hill at your normal sustainable pace for about 30 minutes or an hour. Then check your average moving pace.
Regarding ascending steep sections of the trail: I like each of us to establish a pace that we can sustain for about a 30 minute interval no matter whether it is slower or faster than other hikers. I encourage you to find the pace that works best for you.
We will sit down near the highest elevation of this route for a snack/lunch/visit break before heading down.
